bukit damansara, malaysia
The house is a modern minimalist residence located at Jalan Setia Bestari, Bukit Damansara.
Overall concept is derived from the planning of form, space and function to respond to the existing site condition, in meeting the owner’s needs and lifestyle. Extensively built with the reinforced concrete flat slab to optimise ceiling clearance, the 3 storey house overlooks the remaining open green of Bukit Damansara.
The architectural design for this residence is a humble form of squares that are integrated to form spaces. The approach into the house is carefully choreographed to be of a spatial experience. The house only reveals its jewel, which is the view, after going through layers of spaces: low ceiling spaces, open deck with a timber bridge crossing a pond over a waterfall, etc. Once inside the open living and dining spaces, the view is further maximised with floor to ceiling glazing.
The house has an “open” concept, which means various spaces acted as one large area. Main private areas are mostly on the upper floors for security and optimum views.
The orientation of the blocks suits the climatic response. The enclosure of the buildings is transparent but maintain privacy to its neighbour. The house was designed to maximise natural daylight and natural ventilation along the entire length of the house, bringing the external environment factors inside or sharing the internal elements to the exterior.
